In a Dual Language classroom, elementary students engage their teacher and each other in English or Spanish. Parent and Family Engagement Conference

MEF Prize Patrols 2 McAllen Education Foundation member Julian Gomez IV, right, presents a check for $850 to Fields Elementary Music Teacher Adelina Chavez on Monday, October 24. The grant will provide the funding necessary to produce a musical, known as a Broadway Junior, called Willy Wonka KIDS. The Foundation presented 20 grants Monday to teachers which will benefit more than 3,000 students across McAllen ISD.

The annual McAllen ISD Parent and Family Engagement Conference will be Saturday, January 21, at McAllen High (2021 La Vista Ave.). Registration will begin at 8:15 a.m. with sessions starting at 8:45 a.m. Sessions will cover topics like parenting, health and nutrition, discipline, college and career readiness, McAllen ISD programs, community safety programs and more. Call 956-971-1113 for
