McAllen ISD’s Lamar Academy earned the prestigious International Baccalaureate Organization School of Distinction award on January 26, 2017. The district earned this worldwide award due to its historical IB diploma earning rate of 98.1 percent (highest in the world). The global average is just 79.3 percent.
