McALLEN — Valley native and aspiring fashion designer David Saldaña is collecting materials in the area for his first fashion show slated for later this year and his collection’s pop-up shop in early February in San Antonio.
Saldaña graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. Prior to that, Saldaña attended McAllen schools where he was part of the middle years program of the International Baccalaureate Program.
During his sophomore year of the IB program, the curriculum called for the completion of a personal project and Saldaña took on the challenge by staging a fashion show to raise money for a local boy in need of medical equipment. Saldaña would go on to realize his future in fashion design by completing his senior year of high school in San Antonio and joining the school’s fashion club.
