Mariachi Oro Represents at Hollywood Bowl

“Congratulations to our 4X State Champions and 2X UIL Outstanding Performers, McAllen HS Mariachi Oro, for representing McAllen ISD, the Rio Grande Valley, and the State of Texas out at the Hollywood Bowl for the 28th Annual Mariachi USA Festival! This summer, just a couple of weeks ago, McHi Mariachi traveled out to Hollywood, CA and on July 1st, 2017, our students performed in front of a sellout audience of over 18,000 at one of the world’s most prestigious venues! They delivered a spectacular, heart-felt performance and were extremely well received by the audience as they took part in a 4 1/2 hour show of non-stop mariachi music like no other that culminated with a grand fireworks-filled musical finale for what is the 2nd longest running music festival at the Hollywood Bowl! The Hollywood Bowl is a historic and iconic venue of unparalleled beauty that became the summer home of the LA Philharmonic and where legendary artists such as The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Nat King Cole, The Doors, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Plácido Domingo, and other greats have performed. For our students to have been invited back for a 2nd time to perform at an illustrious venue such as the Hollywood Bowl by Mariachi USA creator and producer, Rodri Rodríguez, is a tremendous honor and it was another unforgettable experience for all of them. We are extremely blessed and humbled for our young, student musicians to have been highlighted and featured on one of the world’s biggest stages, representing our school and our school district! It attests to their incredible talent, hard work, and complete dedication to prepare and perform at that level and on a stage of that magnitude! We are extremely proud of all of them for reaching for the stars and living out every musician’s dream, which is performing the music that they love in front of such a huge audience on one of the world’s most iconic stages! McHi Mariachi Oro is under the direction of Alex Treviño, David Moreno, and consultant Bernie Aldava.”
