McAllen ISD is partnering with the McAllen Education Foundation to put on the inaugural Superintendent’s “Fishing for Kids” Tournament April 27-28.
The proceeds from the fishing tournament will benefit students in need with scholarships.
Tournament headquarters: Louie’s Backyard on South Padre Island
Registration: 6-9 p.m. on Friday, April 27
Fishing hours: 6 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 28
Weigh in: 1- 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 28
Dinner & awards: 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 28 at Louie’s Backyard
“This is a great opportunity to have some fun in the beautiful bay and support our kids at the same time,” McAllen ISD Superintendent J.A. Gonzalez, Ed.D., said. “I encourage anyone who would like to support student scholarships to sign up a team or sponsor a team.”
There are four adult divisions; Redfish, Trout, Flounder and Grand Champion (overall weight of 3 species). Kids will have an opportunity to participate in the Kids division (12 years and younger) for Redfish and Trout.
