McAllen ISD’s Morris Middle School is planning to give out more than 100 turkey dinners ahead of the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Through a partnership with Communities in Schools, students have been donating items for this sixth annual Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive. The school has already donated 31 turkey dinners to area families and has at least 90 more it will be giving out today and Friday, Nov. 16.
“Each family will get a box of canned food and a turkey,” Morris Principal Brian McClenny said.
Families have been contacted and will be picking up their dinners until 4 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday. Morris is at 1400 Trenton Ave. on the corner of Trenton and Main St. in McAllen.
The public is welcome to donate non-perishable canned food to the school today and Friday. It will be distributed to a family in need.
