Deaf Awareness Month is celebrated annually in September to raise awareness about the Deaf community, Deaf culture, and the experiences of people with hearing loss. The month commemorates the first Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf held in September 1951 and encourages understanding of Deaf identity, language (like American Sign Language), and the importance of communication access and inclusivity.
