Over the holiday break, the final round of the TMEA All-State Mariachi Audition process took place and we are excited to announce that our very own, McAllen HS Junior, Jeykob López, earned 🥇1st Chair Guitar in the Entire State of Texas out of 450 guitarrists that began the initial process! What an extraordinary accomplishment as only 18 All-State Mariachi musicians are selected each year and of those, only 2 guitars make it in! What’s more impressive is that this talented young man has only been playing the guitar for 2 years & had no mariachi or guitar experience until high school! To earn that 1st chair spot is all that more amazing! Please help us congratulate him on this well-deserved honor! Way to go, Jeykob! 🎶🥇🎶🎸🎶
🚨DELAYED START SCHEDULE 🚨
Due to exceedingly cold weather, McAllen ISD will have a delayed start to school on both Tuesday & Wednesday, Jan. 16-17.
Buses will run 1 hour later than usual. McAllen ISD intends to keep schools open to ensure all children have a warm environment.
Athletics: Varsity soccer games, scheduled for today, have been postponed until Wednesday, Jan. 17. All sub-varsity sports & Elevate activities, scheduled for today, are cancelled. Safe & Secure for Elementary will be open for today but cancelled for Tuesday & Wednesday.
After school tutorials for McAllen High School have been cancelled for Monday & Tuesday.
