McAllen ISD organized a Fill the Bus campaign to provide essential items like food and clothing to help citizens in Kerr County, west of San Antonio, who were victimized by severe flooding in early July. The community's response was so enormously supportive that a school bus that was expected to take three days to fill was full in just three hours on the first day. Students from 16 McAllen ISD schools participated.
On July 16, 2025, a semi-trailer, jam packed with donated supplies, pulled out of McAllen on its way to Central Texas with cheers from students, educators and parents. The grand total included 23,763 pounds (almost 12 tons) of items plus $2,845 in cash and gift cards. Special thanks goes to all the students, educators and parents who volunteered their time plus community members who donated items for those in need. We are McAllen ISD proud!
