Congratulations to James Peisen, a 6th grader at Cathey Middle School. He was named Grand Champion at the 16th annual McAllen ISD Science & Engineering Fair held Dec. 6, 2025
Many middle school students showcased their creativity and scientific acumen at the event held at the UTRGV McAllen ISD Collegiate Academy.
Students competed in 21 categories including Chemistry, Biology, Technology, Environmental, Health and many others with the top three in each category advancing to the Regional Science & Engineering Fair in February.
Below are the first-place winners in each category from the Science & Engineering Fair. The event is organized by McAllen ISD's Secondary Science Coordinator Katherine Friedlein-Garcia.
