Elementary-age students in McAllen ISD got to experience an early Christmas thanks to the Heroes and Helpers program on Dec. 10, 2025.
The City of McAllen Police Dept., the McAllen ISD Police Dept. and Target teamed up to provide $50 for each of 80 students for them to spend at the Target store on Expressway 83 in McAllen. Students not only selected toys for themselves but also picked items for their families. Santa Claus arrived by helicopter to kick off the festivities.
