A student in McAllen ISD’s Media Production course, known as KMAC, earned a national award at the Student Television Network Spring Nationals contest.
Fatima Muleiro, a junior from McAllen Memorial High, placed third in the country in the School Promotional Video category on May 20.
“Fatima worked incredibly hard on producing the video and we are very proud of her work,” KMAC Instructor Robert Garza said. “This was our first time entering this particular contest since 2006 and we had great results with it.”
KMAC, which is a program under the district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) umbrella, has earned a bevy of awards this year in major competition. This includes:

· 8 Projects earn Superior Ranking SkillsUSA State

· 2nd Place Short Film STN National Contest in Tampa, Florida (Luis Perez, Rowe; Diego Calderon, Rowe; Antonio Diaz, Rowe; Austin Williams, McAllen High; and Edgar Orta, McAllen High)
· Best Drama Short Film Student Film Festival (Diego Calderon, Rowe and Antonio Diaz, Rowe)
· Best Actor Drama Short Film Student Film Festival (Justin Maya, Rowe)
· 3rd Place School Promo STN Spring Nationals (Fatima Muleiro, Memorial)
