The McAllen High girls track & field team has been recognized with a proclamation from the City of McAllen for its accomplishments.

The proclamation declared May 26, 2026 as McAllen High School Girls Track Team Day. City Commissioner (Place 3) Rolando Rios presented the proclamation to the team during a celebration held May 26.

The proclamation reads:

Whereas, athletics provides an avenue for youth to exercise, learn skills, improve physical and mental health and, learn valuable life lessons such as how to work collaboratively with others, deal with adversity; and,

Whereas, the Lady Bulldogs Track and Field team from McAllen High School has continued a remarkable run of success by winning a District Championship for eight consecutive years, winning an Area Championship for six straight years and having won a Regional title for a school-record three consecutive years; and,

Whereas, the Lady Bulldogs produced 14 individuals who qualified for the Regional Track Meet, eight of which also qualified for the State competition in Austin and, the team having set nine all-time Rio Grande Valley records in nine different relays, something no other Valley team has ever done;

Now therefore, I, Rolando “Rolly” Rios, City Commissioner of the City of McAllen, Texas by virtue of the authority vested in me and on behalf of the Mayor and City Commission, do hereby proclaim May 26, 2026, as McAllen High School Girls Track Tea Day.
