Burlington Stores, the national discount retailer offering low prices every day on brand name merchandise, and AdoptAClassroom.org, a national non-profit organization dedicated to supporting teachers and their students, are thrilled to adopt classrooms at McAllen ISD.

To celebrate Burlington’s new store opening in McAllen, officials provided a $5,000 AdoptAClassroom.org donation to Castaneda Elementary on October 2, 2026. The store (No. 1858), located at 3116 Nolana Avenue, Suite 180, in McAllen, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the store's grand opening and the donation supporting Castaneda's teachers.

These funds will be divided among Castaneda’s teachers so that they can order the classroom supplies and resources they need for their students through AdoptAClassroom.org’s online marketplace. Castaneda Elementary has approximately 350 students.

Since Burlington began partnering with AdoptAClassroom.org in 2017, they have provided more than 1.5 million students with the tools and supplies they need to succeed now and in the future.

AdoptAClassroom.org provides educators with an online marketplace of more than 20 school and office supply vendors where they can purchase the materials and tools they need to better engage with their students.

This is the fourth time McAllen ISD schools have benefited with a $5,000 donation from Burlington Stores and the AdoptAClassroom.org program. Previous donations benefitted Fields Elementary, Alvarez Elementary, and Escandon Elementary in 2024 and 2025.
