Congratulations to McAllen High's Natalie Carmona who earned first place in the High School Division at the 2021 FESTIBA Vocal Competition Saturday, Feb. 27. She competed against talented vocalists from several states and put on an outstanding performance.
Carmona is a member of the six-time state champion McAllen High Mariachi Oro.
"We are extremely proud of her for representing McAllen High School and McAllen ISD at the highest level," McAllen High Mariachi Oro Instructor Alex Trevino said.
Just three McAllen High Mariachi Oro students performed as part of FESTIBA. That includes Carmona, Roxeth Gonzalez and Dayanna Villanueva.
Only 10 high school students were selected for the finals round and McAllen High had the highest number of finalists make the FESTIBA Vocal Finals out of all schools involved.
