All three McAllen ISD Mariachi groups have advanced to the 2021 UIL State Contest. All three, McAllen High, McAllen Memorial and James "Nikki" Rowe, received Straight Division 1 Superior Ratings at the UIL Regional/Area Contest. They will now compete at the UIL State Festival Friday-Saturday in Seguin, Texas. McAllen High is a six-time state champion.
