The FMS Student Historical Society is one of its kind at McAllen ISD. It was founded and coached by our History Teacher, Mrs. Linda Gonzalez. Not only do students compete in the National History Day competitions, but they also complete community service hours such as the FMS' Veterans Day Ceremony. In addition, SHS members engage in Christmas Drives, placing flags on Veterans' graves during Memorial Day and raising money for local veterans. SHS Mission Statement: The purpose(s) of this organization shall be to encourage and empower the development of rigorous historical research via writing, analytical skills, awareness, and appreciation of history, economics, political science, anthropology, geography, and archeology. Students will compete in the National History Day local, state, and national competitions and participate in community service projects with a primary focus on the veterans' community. The following students competed in the regional National History Day competition on February 12, 2022, and are on their way to the state competition on April 23, 2022. Students will not only represent Fossum Middle School but McAllen ISD as well. Congratulations to all! #MISD #FossumFalcons
