Rocky, a K9 officer with McAllen ISD Police Dept., passed away on Nov. 21. A memorial service was held in his honor on Dec. 18, 2023 at Memorial High School - the campus where Rocky was assigned. His handler, Officer Jaime Juan, spoke at the event along with Chief Joey Silva and Memorial Principal Pedro Alvarez. Students attended the brief service. The campus also ran a campaign to collect pet toys and blankets to be donated to the Palm Valley Animal Shelter in Rocky's honor.

McAllen High School held its annual Holiday Music Concert featuring the efforts of the Mariachi Oro, band, orchestra and choir all performing Christmas holiday music.
Today two McAllen High School seniors signed up to serve in the military post-graduation. Jesus Lopez-Sanchez with the US Marine Corps and Antawn Namuag with the US Army.
